Mera Peak Overview

Situated in the stunning Barun National Park of the Khumbu region, Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal. It consists of three summits:

  • Mera Central (6,461 m – the one we will climb)
  • Mera North (6,476 m)
  • Mera South (6,065 m)

Mera Peak is an excellent introduction to peak climbing for beginner mountaineers. It is a non-technical climb, but it is physically demanding due to high altitude. Strong fitness levels and determination are essential for reaching the summit.

The trail to Mera Peak offers a quieter, more isolated experience compared to the main Khumbu region. Highlights include:

  • Crossing suspension bridges.
  • Walking through rhododendron forests.
  • Spotting wildlife.
  • Panoramic views of 5 of the 14 highest 8000m peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga.
