Standing at 6,189m, Island Peak offers mountaineers and experienced trekkers the opportunity to summit a 6,000m+ mountain. It is not just a trekking peak, as it includes technical climbing sections requiring the use of climbing equipment.
The peak was named Island Peak because, from Dingboche, it appears as an island surrounded by a “sea of ice” – actually a cluster of massive mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse, and Peak 38. Located in Sagarmatha National Park (Khumbu region), it is accessed via the Imja Khola Valley.
Island Peak is your gateway to an exciting introduction to technical mountaineering, perfect for those eager to elevate their skills!
